Public Works Department

The Public Works Department conducts summer and winter maintenance on over forty miles of roads and eighty miles of right of ways to ensure safe passage on Holden roads. Given Maine's harsh winters and the miles of both paved and gravel roads in Holden, maintenance operations vary greatly.  Though most visible running snowplows during a blizzard, the Public Works Department road responsibilities includes brush cutting, grading, culvert maintenance, correcting drainage problems, patching pot holes, along with and variety of other tasks. Tasks also extend to summer and winter upkeep of all vehicles owned by the Town and facility maintenance.
